I picked this one piece, supposedly 1/1 scale Pero Pero up while visiting Nakano Broadway, one of my favourite places in the world. The clerk gave me a strange look, like I had no business knowing who this character was. Poor little guy looked as if he’d been sitting in his case for quite some time.

At first he seems like the simplest kit ever, but there was one major issue with him – a giant seam that ran around his entire body. Because of that, prep work took about as long as a normal kit. Unfortunately even after all the hours I spent removing it, it’s still visible at some angles due to him being all white. Probably should have spent even more time on it, but I’m still pretty happy with the result.

Photos do a pretty decent job at picking up the shading if you know what to look for, but I intentionally kept everything subtle since PeroPero doesn’t have much detail in the anim e or manga. The eyes are done in manga style, I just love the shaky look they have.

Mostly airbrushed with details handbrushed. Eyes done with marker,shading with pastels.

Think he’ll be a good guard for my anime collection?
